Abstract

794,064. Hydraulic pit props. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AKT.-GES. Dec. 14, 1955 [Dec. 30, 1954], No. 35865/55. Class 20(2) A telescopic hydraulic pit prop is raised against the roof by a small piston and cylinder 7, 10 and the setting pressure is applied in the chamber 4 in the outer prop member 2 against the base 3 of the inner prop member 1. The cylinder 10 is formed in the inner prop member and the piston 7 is connected by a rod 8 to the outer prop member 2. Fluid is drawn by hand pump 16 tfrom a reservoir 14 and forced through a passage 20 to the cylinder 10. When the prop engages the roof a valve 12 opens and the fluid is forced to the chamber 4 by a passage 11 in the rod 8 to set the prop. The prop is released by opening a valve 24 to release the fluid from the cylinder 10 to the reservoir 14, the fluid in the chamber 4 being released through a by-pass 26 and a valve 27.
