Abstract
564,886. Valves. DAVIES, G., DAVIES, A., and DAVIES, R. A. Aug. 25, 1943, No. 13847. [Class 7 (vi)] The end of a sleeve valve 1 adapted to be rotatec between the piston 2 and cylinder 3, has a cavity forming a housing for a slidable member, such as a cylindrical piston 5 pressed against the cylin der wall by pressure in the cylinder and by springs 6 the slidable member hav ing a passage 8 adapted to put the combustion space successively into communication with the inlet and exhaust ports as the sleeve valve rotates. An inlet and outlet for cooling oil may be provided in the slidable member and the passage 8 may be of W cross-section. The valve may also control an ignition port.
