Abstract
557,928. Alloys. HEPPENSTALL CO. Sept. 20, 1942, No. 13674. Convention date, May 8. [Class 82 (i)] Dies for forming and extruding various materials, particularly for hot forging metal are made of steels containing up to 2! per cent. of silver. The steels may contain also 0.3-1.1 per cent. of carbon, 0.25-1.25 per cent. of chromium, 0.6-1 per cent of manganese, and 0.15-2 per cent. of molybdenum with or without 0.5-2 per cent. of nickel or 0.08-0.2 per cent. of vanadium or both. In making the steels, the silver may be added as pure metal, or a reducible compound, or as an alloy of silver with copper, manganese, lead, bismuth or tellurium Specification 500,729 is referred to.
