Abstract
567,445. Alloys. KENT, H. Aug. 6, 1943, No. 12717, Convention date, July 24, 1942. [Class 82 (i)] Pyrophoric alloys contain misch-metal, iron and copper, together with small quantities of silver, nickel and chromium. A preferred alloy contains misch-metal 300 parts, iron 75-100 parts, copper 5 parts, silver 2-4 parts, nickel 1 part and chromium 1 part. Magnesium may also be added in amount up to 2 per cent in weight of the alloy. The misch-metal is melted under a salt layer, the iron and then the other metals added, and the alloy cast into a mould preheated to just below the melting point of the alloy. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that manganese and vanadium may be added to harden the alloy. This subject-matter does not. appear in the Specification as accepted.
