Abstract

Alloys.-An alloy consists of copper, titanium,. cobalt, nickel, zinc, and silicon-copper, and is made by melting a previously-prepared alloy of copper, titanium, and cobalt with nickel, copper, zinc, and silicon-copper. For example, 1-20 parts of an alloy of 97 per cent of copperr, 3 per cent of titanium and 2 per cent of cobalt may be melted with 50 parts of nickel, 20 parts of copper, 12 parts of zinc, and 1 part of siliconcopper. The titanium, or cobalt, or both, may be used in the form of oxides and dissolved in flux before the addition of the other metals.
