Abstract

251,906. Rosthorn, O. von. Jan. 19, 1926. Alloys. - Copper-magnesium-cadmium alloys are made without the use of a separate deoxidizing agent by utilizing the cadmium as a deoxidizing agent. A quantity of copper may be melted, and then deoxidized bv means of an alloy of 90 per cent of copper and 10 per cent of cadmium; an alloy of 16.5 parts of copper, 3.25 parts of magnesium, and 5 parts of cadmium is then added to produce the final alloy required; or copper may be melted and deoxidized as above, whereupon magnesium is added and then the second-mentioned alloy above.
