524,248. Alloys. MALLORY METALLURGICAL PRODUCTS, Ltd. (Mallory & Co., Inc., P. R). Jan. 25, 1939, No. 2615. [Class 82 (i)] Copper alloys are made by adding to molten copper a coherent mass containing two or more constituents of the alloy, one of which may be copper, with or without the addition of a deoxidizing agent such as calcium boride, a binder such as methyl methacrylate, or a protective coating material such as sodium silicate. The coherent mass may be made by slow compression of the mixed powders with or without subsequent heat treatment. For making coppermanganese alloys, the coherent mass may consist of copper and manganese with one or more of the metals nickel, iron, cobalt, aluminium, and chromium ; for copper-aluminium alloys, copper and aluminium with one or more of the metals molybdenum, nickel, iron, and cobalt; for copper-chromium alloys, copper and chromium with one or more of the metals iron, tin, and manganese ; for copper-silicon alloys, copper and silicon with one or more of the metals cadmium, tin, zinc, and manganese; and for copper-nickel-tin alloys, copper, nickel, and tin with or without zinc and cadmium. Other metals referred to as possible constituents are antimony, silver, titanium, and vanadium.
