Abstract
570,906. Aluminium alloys. MILLER, G. L., and MUREX, Ltd. Nov. 26, 1943, Nos. 19792/43 and 23199/44. [Class 82 (i)] A process for the production of sintered aluminium alloys which comprises sintering a pressed mixture of metal powders including an alloy, in powder form, containing aluminium and copper together with one or more of iron, nickel and cobalt. The whole of the aluminium to be included in the pressed mixture of metal powders may be introduced in the form of the alloy powder. The process is applied particularly to the manufacture of sintered alloys having well-marked magnetic properties and containing 5-20 per cent aluminium ; 10-35 per cent nickel ; 2-30 per cent cobalt ; 2-16 per cent copper and the balance iron. Two preferred powdered alloys for use in this process are : (a) 25 per cent iron ; 46 per cent aluminium ; 28 per cent copper ; 6 per cent nickel; (b) 20 per cent nickel ; 50 per cent aluminium ; 30 per cent copper.
