Abstract
534,154. Refining nickel ; alloys. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 26, 1939, No. 24573. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1938. [Class 82 (i)] An oxide-coated cathode for electric discharge devices has a core consisting of nickel containing 0.02-0.05 per cent. of carbon, and free from other reducing agents, with or without less than 0.075 per cent. of iron and traces of silicon, copper, and magnesium. The nickel may contain up to 0.8 per cent. of cobalt. The material may be made by melting pure nickel, adding carbon, for example, 0.5 per cent. rolling, and annealing. The carbon may be added in admixture with powdered nickel ,and a binder. U.S.A. Specification 2,029,482 is referred to.
