Abstract
505,711. Alloys. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE AKT.-GES. April 4, 1938, No. 10286. Convention date, April 8, 1937. [Class 82 (i)] Permanent magnets are made from an alloy containing iron with the usual impurities and 0À7-1À6 per cent of carbon, 2À0-10 per cent of chromium, and 0.1-3.9 per cent of aluminium with or without one or more of the following ; up to 8 per cent of tungsten, up to 4 per cent of molybdenum, up to 38 per cent of cobalt, up to 2À5 per cent of manganese, and 0À1-2 per cent of nickel. The alloys especially when manganese is present, are hardened by rapid quenching and when nickel is present, the aluminium content does not exceed 2À4 per cent. Moreover, up to 2À5 per cent in all of one or more of silicon, titanium, magnesium, and calcium may be present, the quantity of the said addition and aluminium together not exceeding 5 per cent. Up to 1À5 per cent of the nickel content may be replaced by an equal weight of copper.
