Abstract

279,415. International Nickel Co., (Assignees of Merica, P. D., Vanick, J. S., and Wickenden, T. H.). Oct. 21, 1926, [Convention date]. Alloys.-A wear-resisting grey iron contains 2-4 per cent of carbon, 0.25-3 per cent of silicon, 0.25-2 per cent of manganese, 1-12 per cent of nickel, and up to 3 per cent of chromium, with or without the addition of other metals such as copper, aluminium, molybdenum, and tungsten. The nickel content is greater than the chromium content, and sulphur and phosphorus may be present in the usual cast iron ranges. Specification 279,414 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 16829/91, 126,362, 245,196 and 281,051.
