Abstract
Articles with increased resistance to corrosion particularly in sea water and moist earth are made from steel or cast iron which contains in the case of the cast iron 2,05 per cent or over of carbon and 0,1-1 per cent of copper, with additions of 0,1-2 per cent of nickel, 0,05-5 per cent of magnesium, and 0,05-5 per cent of aluminium either separately or in any desired combination; and in the case of the steel up to 2 per cent of carbon and 0,1-0,9 per cent of copper, with additions of 0,05-5 per cent of magnesium, 0,1-2 per cent of nickel, and 0,05-2 per cent of aluminium either separately or in any desired combination, the carbon content amounting to at least 0,2 per cent when nickel is present without magnesium or aluminium and the copper content being at least 0,2 per cent when aluminium is present without magnesium or nickel. Manganese, sulphur, phosphorus and silicon may also be present. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also such steel or cast iron which contains also chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, cobalt, titanium, boron, zirconium, or beryllium. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8492/89, [Class 82, Metal and alloys], and 298,781, [Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.].
