Abstract
Iron or steel alloys contain up to 0,45 per cent of carbon, about 0,12 to 0,5 per cent of sulphur, 0,1 to less than 6 per cent of chromium and up to 1 per cent of manganese. When the alloys contain from 0,1 to less than 0,21 per cent of sulphur the chromium content may be 0,1-25 per cent. The alloys may also contain up to about 0,5 per cent of phosphorus, up to 1 per cent of silicon, up to about 10 per cent of one or more of the metals nickel, tungsten, and molybdenum and some or all of the chromium but not exceeding 5 per cent may be replaced by about half as much of one or more of the elements aluminium, titanium, vanadium, copper. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also alloys containing up to about 1 per cent of carbon, about 0,1-0,5 per cent of sulphur, up to 1 per cent of manganese, 0,1-25 per cent of chromium with or without up to about 0,5 per cent of phosphorus, up to about 1 per cent of silicon, and up to about 10 per cent of nickel, tungsten, and molybdenum, the chromium being wholly or partly replaceable by aluminium, titanium, vanadium, copper, separately or in admixture. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
