Abstract

550,911. Pulverized fuel burners. FOUNDRY EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and BEECH, A. S. April 22, 1942, No. 5420. [Class 75 (i)] A pulverized fuel burner suitable for use in rotary melting furnaces consists of a tubular body 20 adjustably secured to the fuel supply pipe 26 and carrying three or more dished plates 28, 30, 32 spaced apart by small cylindrical members 40 which define the arcuate lengths of the discharge slots 42. The plate 30 has a .central aperture of a diameter substantially equal to the internal diameter of the tube 20. The end plates 28, 32 define a chamber having an axial depth substantially less than the diameter of the tube 20. A body 44 of refractory material is secured to the outer plate 32 to protect the burner from the furnace heat. The tube 26 may extend through the door 48 of the furnace wind box 14.
