Abstract
523,967. Liquid-fuel burners. GENERAL GAS APPLIANCES, Ltd., COLEMAN, F. S., GRAFTON, R. F. O., and CORBY, S. F. Jan. 18, 1939, No. 1690. [Class 75 (i)] In a liquid-fuel burner comprising coaxial steam and fuel jets carbonization of the fuel by the heat of the steam is prevented by the provision of an air jacket or other heat-insulating means between steam and fuel passages. In the burner shown a liner h is secured to the burner body f around the fuel jet n by a wing nut t so as to enclose an air space p. Steam is supplied to the body f through a hole g and issues from an adjustable nozzle a around the cylindrical outlet s of the jet n. In a modification the fuel jet is secured into a rear portion to which the steam nozzle and liner are secured by studs, an annular space around the jet and between the rear portion and the liner providing heat insulation.
