Abstract

978,652. Burners. STARHILL COMBUSTIONS Ltd. Jan. 9, 1961 [Jan. 13, 1960], No. 1318/60. Addition to 904,901. Heading F4T. A burner head 51 discharging a mixture of atomized fuel and gas or vapour is movably mounted on the axis of a tubular flame stabilizer 67 having three rows of air inlet apertures 68 axially close but radially remote from the burner head. The latter is mounted on an end wall of a cylindrical casing 52 slidable in an aperture in an air manifold 56 and connected by rods 63 to a member 62 adapted to be moved by a hand wheel 58. A bellows 57 seals the casing 52. A sleeve 66 moved by further rods 64 covers up to two of the three rows of air apertures 68 in the flame stabilizer. A further sleeve 69 moved by still further rods 65 telescopes relatively to a sleeve 70 fixed within the air manifold 56. A fan supplies air to the manifold. Most of the combustion air is delivered to the flame through an aperture 73 between the flame stabilizer 67 and a refractory quarl. Specification 978,651 is referred to.
