Abstract
869,652. Igniting burners. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. Jan. 27, 1959 [Feb. 3, 1958], No. 2953/59. Addition to 791,990. Classes 75(1) and 75(3). An ignition device for the combustion chamber of an engine comprises a carburetting chamber 8 supplied by tangential pipes 4 with heated air or oxygen and by a porous metal sleeve 11 with kerosene, the carburetted mixture being discharged through a nozzle 10 into a chamber 22 to induce therein through tangential pipes 23 a supply of oxygen. The mixture is then discharged into the combustion chamber of the engine. The mixture is ignited either by a U-shaped refractory rod heated electrically and adjustably disposed outside the carburetting chamber 8 or by a small straight rod heated electrically and situated within the carburetting chamber 8. The air or oxygen delivered to the carburetting chamber 8 by the pipes 4 is heated by electric resistances 7 either disposed inside or surrounding refractory tubes 6.
