Abstract

874,116. Air supply for combustion. MODERN FURNACES & STOVES Ltd. May 26, 1960 [June 9, 1959], No. 19670/59. Class 126. In a gas or liquid fuel fired combustion apparatus to which air is supplied under pressure, an inner tubular member 11 adapted to receive a burner has one or more apertures 13 at the inlet end and baffles 14, 15 disposed one at each side of the aperture(s). Air supplied from a fan (not shown) to the annular soace between the member 11 and an outer tubular member 10 passes through the aperture(s) 13 and is directed by the baffles 14, 15 to the centre of the member 11. As shown, the apertures 13 are formed by bending the wall, between axial slits, outwardly along a line inclined to the axis of the inner member and the baffles 14, 15 are frusto-conical. Between the baffles are circumferentially spaced radial vanes 16 and there may also be a swirler of conventional form in the centre of the baffle 14.
