Abstract

541,301. Cathode-ray tubes. FREEMAN, G. S. P. April 12, 1940, No. 6609. [Class 39 (i)] In order to retard the passage of the ray through the tube it is caused by reflecting electrodes to pass to and fro in the space between two deflecting electrodes, in which space there is also a magnetic field, so that it takes a zig-zag path through the space. Fig. I shows the ray from a gun 1 passing through the space between the deflecting electrodes 2, 3 under the influence of a magnetic field H and reflecting electrodes 4, 5. It finally inpinges on an anode 6 connected to the grid of a valve 7. Several such devices may be combined to mix similar signals from different sources. The deflection in the initial and final portion of the track may be made greater than in the remainder, either by auxiliary electrodes or by special shaping of the electrodes 23.
