Abstract
525,181. Cathode-ray tubes. KOLSTERBRANDES, Ltd., and SMYTH, C. N. Feb. 17, 1939, No. 5323. [Class 39 (i)] Tubes using electromagnetic deflection have a rectangular crosssection at the deflecting point. Either the neck 2 or the conical part 3 of the tube or both are rectangular. The coils may be flat, lying directly on the faces of the envelope and surrounded by a laminated core; or the coils may be on pole pieces abutting on the flat envelope faces. The coils may exceed in width the faces, and they may be trapezoidal in shape. They may be designed to give a barrel-shaped raster.
