Abstract

533,592. Bituminous emulsions. COLAS PRODUCTS, Ltd., GABRIEL, L. G., and RAWLINSON, J. A. Aug. 25, 1939, No. 24535. [Class 1 (i)] A bitumen dispersion for use as a base for making coloured dispersions of the kind described in Specification 514,818 is made by mixing bitumen or an aqueous bitumen dispersion with an aqueous slurry of bentonite or similar highly swellable or colloidal substance. The proportions are such that the bitumen content is less than 25 per cent. and preferably less than 15 per cent. of the dispersion, excluding the bentonite. A trace of flocculating agent such as aluminium sulphate may be added to control consistency.
