Abstract

Chlorinated naphthalene is incorporated in distempers as an insecticide. The chlorinated naphthalene is preferably added in the form of an aqueous emulsion. In an example, a distemper paste adapted to be diluted with water for use, comprises 35 parts of water, 1 of gum arabic, 2 of flour, 45 of zinc oxide, 7 of iron oxide pigment and 10 of an aqueous emulsion containing 24,8 per cent of chlorinated naphthalene.ALSO:Chlorinated naphthalene is incorporated in plaster, distemper, and like materials as an insecticide. The chlorinated naphthalene is preferably added in the form of an aqueous emulsion. In an example, 14 volumes of an aqueous emulsion containing 24,8 per cent of chlorinated naphthalene are added to 100 volumes of a 50 per cent slurry of hydrated line. A plaster is made by adding 300 volumes of sand. A distemper paste, adapted to be diluted with water for use, comprises 35 parts of water, 1 of gum arabic, 4 of flour, 45 of zinc oxide, 7 of iron oxide pigment and 10 of the chlorinated naphthalene emulsion above.
