Abstract
525,191. Driving-gear. CHAUDE, B. J. A. Jan. 12, 1939, Nos. 1048 and 1049. Convention dates, Jan. 12, 1938 and July 9, 1938. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke cycle engine rigidly-connected inner pistons 52 and outer pistons 53 drive eccentrics 55, 56, 57 on the shaft 54. Around each eccentric are a pair of rings 61, 62 each having a segmental gap for a projecting arm 63 on the other ring, the curved end of the arm being engaged by bearing surfaces within the pistons or the piston-connecting links, as the case may be. Side flanges on the ends of the arms engage grooves in the bearing surfaces to prevent lateral movement. Instead of using rings with overlapping hubs, separate rings axially-displaced with reference to each other may be fitted.
