Abstract

512,372. Stuffing-box substitutes. URALMASCHINEN-VERTRIEBS-GES. Oct. 3, 1938, No. 28689. Convention date, Oct. 20, 1937. [Class 122 (v)] A stuffing-box substitute provided between the crank case and crank shaft 5 of a two-stroke internal combustion engine comprises a pair of fixed discs 1, 2 perforated for the passage of the shaft 5 with clearance, and a rotatable ring 3 fitting closely on the shaft between the discs, in light contact with the discs, the contact surfaces of the ring having grooves 7, 8 forming expansion chambers. The discs 1, 2 are spaced by a ring 4 riveted thereto.
