Abstract
251,265. Kaye Engine Co., Ltd. April 27, 1925, [Convention date]. Crank-actuated pumps.-In pumps of the kind having two or more opposed cylinders or sets of cylinders 11, the pairs of pistons of which are rigidly connected to a piston rod 13 engaging a crank pin 19 of a secondary crankshaft 21, the piston rods 13 carry cross-heads 14 sliding in guides 15, which are made slightly concave so that the radial pull of the reciprocating parts is taken by the primary cranks 16. The faces of the crossheads are slightly convex to fit the guides. The guides may be adjusted to take up wear. The primary crankshaft carries balance weights 23, and its two parts are kept in phase by means of a lay shaft 29 driven by gearings 28 on the primary shaft.
