Abstract
249,693. Austin, Sir H. April 29, 1925. Engines with two or more parallel cylinders with axes perpendicular to main shaft; driving- gear.-The want of balance produced by the inharmonic motion of a piston in a cylinder connected to a crank pin bv a connecting-rod is compensated by a bob weight connected to the crank pin or to the connecting-rod and moved axially with or parallel to the cylinder axis on the opposite side of the crank. The weight is connected to the rod or pin by a short auxiliary rod, and is guided by a link or guides. In an internal-combustion engine, Fig. 1, the weights D are connected by rods C to extensions on the connecting- rods B and are provided with guides E. Links F, Fig. 4, may be used in lieu of guides.
