Abstract
325,036. Sanders, G. Nov. 29, 1928. Driving-gear; two-stroke-cycle engines, - The pistons of an opposed-piston engine are connected through links b<1>, c<1> to a cross-head d, driving the crank f through a connecting-rod. The throw of the crank is twice the length of the piston travel so that two impulses are obtained for one revolution of the crank-shaft. There may be two cross-heads to each piston pair, the cross-heads being connected to cranks at 180‹. A second pair of pistons in a cylinder a<1>, Fig. 8, parallel to the main cylinder may drive through the first pair, rocker bars h, i being used to connect the two sets of pistons.
