Abstract

162,237. Brooks, T. W. Oct. 18, 1920. Piston packing.-Packing for the piston of a steam or internal-combustion engine or pump comprises two split rings 4, each of which is formed with an integral cover-piece 7 for the joint of the other ring. Each ring is formed with eccentric inner and outer peripheries, and the inner face 9 of the cover-piece 7 is parallel to a tangent to the inner periphery, leaving a ledge for supporting the ends 10 of the other ring.
