[Class 122 (i).] In piston-packing, of the type comprising two split rings 1, 2, Fig. 2, with a rib 3 on the ring 1 engaging a groove 4 in the ring 2, the groove 4 is made wider than the rib 3, to permit assembly in a packing-ring groove, and the ends of the ring 1 engage one another by a hook joint 11, Fig. 3, or engage the ring 2 by hook joints 7, Fig. 1. Specifications 13718/04, [Class 122, Steam engines], and 286,996, [Class 122 (i), Engine and like cylinders &c.], are referred to.
