[Classes 122 (i) and 122 (v).] In a packing or scraping ring, of the type in which the expansion or contraction of a split ring 1 is limited by a ring 2 in an annular recess in one or both the side surfaces, or in the periphery of the main ring, each auxiliary ring 2 is a split ring, the spring of which acts in opposition to that of the main ring.
