141,191. Swan, Hunter, & Richardson, W., and Rowntree, F. April 10, 1919. Piston packing. - Packing for the piston of an internal-combustion or steam engine or air-compressor consists of two split rings b, c mounted on an inner split ring a, the rings being contained in a recess in a carrier-ring e. Two sets of packing may be employed, as shown. The joints of the rings b, c are entered by stops d, which lie in notches in the edges of the rings a and also engage recesses in the carriers e. The joints in the rings b, c are arranged diametrically opposite, and the joint of each ring a is intermediate between the joints of the rings b, c. Rotation of the rings e is prevented by pegs f.
