Pistons; piston packing; guiding-means within cylinder.-A piston for a rotary engine or compressor comprises a perforated body a and a part e, which carries the packing g, h, and has a stem a screwing into the body a. The packing consists of leather washers, with which split rings may be associated. A bearing ball k rests in a seating in the end of the stem d, and is retained by a flange on the part a. The stem d may be locked by a stud m. In a modification, the ball k is replaced bv a roller and the piston is provided with guiding-grooves engaging projections on the cylinder as described in Specification 158,819.
