[Class 122 (v)] The segments a of packing rings contracted by springs and floatingly supported in containers mounted tightly in a stuffing-box, have extensions b<1> on each side engaging recesses a<1> in the adjacent segments. The extensions and recesses are formed by securing members b in recesses in the segments, but displaced circumferentially thereof.
