Abstract

522,380. Vehicle door fastenings. WILMOTBREEDEN, Ltd., and SMYE, A. Dec. 7, 1938, No. 35659. [Class 44] The fastening of a motor car door a is released by depression of a handle f pivoted at h and housed in a frame member m mounted in a recess in the lower horizontal edge of the window opening e so that handle and frame are substantially flush therewith. As shown, member f is of sheet metal bent to channel section, the depending side limbs g of which have extensions to receive the pivot h and a pivoted connection i of a link by which release movement is transmitted to the latch operating member c. Member f is held in the normal raised position by a spring which may be the spring of the latch. When member f is depressed, the inner wall of frame m provides a finger purchase by which the door may be opened, and this wall may be shaped to present a suitable surface to the finger ends. Alternatively, member may be slidably mounted.
