Stays.-A casement stay and fastener comprises an arm 15 pivoted at 20 to a bracket 18 attached to the window frame and a cross-pin 21 at its other end, the pin being slidable along a plate 16 supported by a plate spring 17 which presses the pin into engagement with one of a series of notches 13 formed in the lower edges of flanges 11 of the guideway 8 secured to the window. To open the window the thumb is pressed against the milled edge of the arm 15 the arm being thereby depressed against the action of the spring 17 and the pin 21 disengaged from the end notch 13; release of the arm when the window is in the required open position allows the spring 17 to move the pin 21 into engagement with another notch 13. The bent-down parts 9 serve as stops to limit the opening and closing movement.
