Abstract

403,653. Stays. APPLEBY, A., and THOMAS, A., Chapel Green Works, Cannon Street, Willenhall. June 23, 1932, No. 17717. [Class 65 (i).] In a casement or like stay, of the type comprising a stay-bar pivotally connected to a fitting on the window and adapted to engage a pin on a fitting on the frame, the stay-bar being adapted to be turned into a plane at right angles to its open position and engaged behind an arm on the pin fitting to hold the window closed, the stay-bar is connected to the window fitting by a pivoted link which has means for engaging behind an arm projecting from a fitting on the window frame to hold the window closed, and the stay-bar can be slidably engaged between lugs on the window-frame fitting so that the connecting link will be held in engagement with the arm on this fitting. In the form shown, the stay-bar 11 is connected to the window fitting 6 by a pivoted link 9, and has holes 12 to engage a pin 3a carried on an arm 3 on the window frame. The link 9 is notched at 13 so that when the window is closed it can be moved to engage the side of the arm 3, the stay-bar being then inserted between lugs 4 on the fitting carrying the arm 3 to hold the window locked. The stay-bar may also, in this position, engage a pin fixed lower down the frame and bent to face the window, the bar being thus secured against accidental swinging out from between the lugs 4.
