Abstract

Stays.-In fastenings for casements comprising a latch-bar attached to the window and having sliding engagement with a hook-plate on the frame from which it can only be disengaged when the window is closed and a reduced portion of the bar registers with the hook-plate, the hook is rotatable but can only be moved when the reduced part is in register. A plain latch-bar 1 is pivotally secured at one end to a plate 2 on the window, is enlarged at the free end 3 and has a reduced portion 9. A plate 4 on the window frame has a fixed hook 5 and a rotatable hook 6, the stem 7 of the latter having a flat 8 so that the two hooks accommodate the full depth of the bar. When the window is closed, the restricted portion 9 registers with the hooks and being clear of the flat 8 the stem 7 can be turned. For maintaining the window in an open position spring catches as 10 hold against the top claw 5. With two windows opening on a common mullion the stems of adjacent hooks 6 are interconnected whereby neither latch-bar can be released unless both windows are closed.
