Stays.-A stay that also serves as a casement fastener comprises a bar A with a cranked end B hinged at b so that it may be swivelled in the plane of the bar, the bar being also pivotally mounted at E so that it may be moved transversely to this plane, a slotted guide J secured to the window frame and having a ledge or tooth g over which the cranked part of the bar may be turned, as shown, to secure the window F in its closed position, the bar also having notches a in its edge to engage with the tooth g to secure the window in an open and adjusted position. The free end of the bar has an inclined surface M and a stop part K. A spring N is provided to engage with the outer edge of the cranked part B when the stay-bar is in its horizontal position. The stay-bar may be formed of pivoted sections.
