Abstract

206,935. Rankin, W. C. Aug. 18, 1922. Stays. - A stay, shown applied to a casement window, comprises a curved arm 2 pivoted at 7 to a bracket 1 fixed to the window, and passing between lugs 8a, 8<b> on a bracket 3 fixed to the frame so as to take through a slot 22 in the bracket and into a hole 23 drilled in the frame. A third lug 8 on the bracket 3 carries a pin 4 adapted to pass through holes in the lugs 8<a>, 8<b> and in the arm 2 so as to retain the window in any position. A spring surrounding the pin 4 tends to force it into the holes, and a stop 24 on the end of the stay prevents it being wholly withdrawn from the frame. Another set of holes is provided at the opposite side of the lugs 8, 8<a>, 8<b> so that the device is applicable to a left or a right-hand swung window by turning it upside-down.
