Abstract

352,571. Sashes balanced by springs. MULLINS, F., 15, Rockboro Road, Cork, Ireland. April 17, 1930, No. 12157. [Class 20 (iii).] A vertically-sliding vehicle window, or the like, is acted on at one or both sides by a spring 6 tending to open or shut it, the movement being damped by an air piston 5b and a cylinder rigidly mounted in the frame having an air outlet 7 adjusted by means such as a screw 8 having a tapered flat 8a. The spring may be connected to the window sash &c. by means of an arm 5 screwed to the piston and provided with a bent end 5a engaging an open-ended slot 4a in the sash. The spring and air cylinder may be attached to a plate 9 countersunk in the frame. A holding device such as a spring-pressed plunger may be mounted on the sash which is adapted to engage the frame or the plate 9 and actuated for withdrawal by a cam and handle 10b.
