Abstract

214,186. Gibbons, F. J. J. Jan. 31, 1924. Stays. - The stay is secured in an adjusted position by a spring-pressed pin h and a clamping screw k carried by a sleeve e arranged on opposite sides of a notched guide bar f or stay member c. In the arrangement shown, the stay c is pivotally connected at its ends to a bracket d on the fixed frame b and to the sleeve e. The sleeve is slidable along a bar f mounted on the casement window. The pin h is held out of locking engagement with the recesses i on the underside of the bar f until the screw is clamped down to press sufficiently on a movable shoe l<1>. This raises the sleeve e against the action of the spring j so that the pin enters one of the recesses i to secure the stay against movement. According to a modified construction, the clamps may be pivotally mounted in the fixed sash frame and the. clamped bar is the casement stay iteself.
