Abstract

244,884. Duncan, C. C. Aug. 28, 1925. Door chains and the like.-In a device for holding a hinged or sliding door, window or other article in an adjusted position and of the kind in which the stay-arm has an enlarged end engaging a slotted guidepiece with notches to allow the stay to be disengaged only when the door is in the closed or nearly closed position, the stay-arm is mounted on pivots disposed perpendicularly to one another and parallel to the face of the base plate of the stay-arm. The stay-arm a is secured by a link c to a bracket e, and the pivots b, d are arranged as previously described. The other end of the stay-arm has a ball-shaped end h with a reduced part which is adapted to engage one of a series of notches m formed in the slotted guide piece . When the door is closed, the stay-bar can be disengaged by passing the end h through the enlarged hole p.
