Abstract
521,736. Fuel-injection devices. AMERY, G. Nov. 24, 1938, No. 6843/40. Divided out. of 521,722. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel-injection valve having a piston for opening the valve by fluid pressure, as this is, controlled periodically by a distributer valve, is provided with an auxiliary cut-off valve arranged to open the fuel-supply passage to the injection valve when the opening-piston is operated, and to close the passage when the fluid pressure opening the injection valve is released. The Figure shows an injection valve 17 connected to a piston 28, to the underside of which fuel or other fluid pressure is supplied by a distributor valve to assist a spring 36 in raising the piston 28, whereupon fuel pressure, supplied at 54 and through passages 59, 34, 35 to a space 19, opens the injection valve against the action of a closing-spring 21. The passage 59 is opened by a passage 58 in a cut-off valve 56, which is moved to the right by the pressure admitted under the piston 28, and returned, when this pressure is released, by a spring 57.
