Abstract

517,178. Gas filters. ILLINOIS TESTING LABORATORIES, Inc. July 21, 1938, No. 21667. Convention date, July 22, 1937. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] A filter attachment for an air flow meter (see Group XXIX) comprises a wire gauze cage 212, Fig. 21, in the form of a deeply - corrugated cylinder covered with filtering fabric 213. The ends of the cage engage over end rings 214, Fig. 20, the slotted outer ends of which are surrounded by felt washers 217. The filter is contained in an outer casing 194, which is secured over the inlet port of the meter by screws engaged in keyhole slots in lugs 207, and into the end of which the coupling 104 is screwed. A cap 202 closes the end of the filter, causing the air to pass inwardly through the lateral corrugated walls and then axially to the inlet port of the meter.
