In a gas filter comprising an outer casing 1 having means e.g., a cover 6 serving to direct gas which has traversed filter material 3 and a central tube 2 surrounded by said filters 3, 5 inflowing gas is accelerated and separated into a plurality of streams F parallel to the outlet 2 by bores or passages 4a in a member 4 at the end of the casing 1 opposite to the cover 6. The latter is of transparent material to afford inspection of the degree of clogging. The material 3 is of fibrous nature.
