781,099. Filters; purifying liquids. TINSLEY (INDUSTRIAL INSTRUMENTS), Ltd. April 3, 1956 [Jan. 19, 1955], No. 1654/55. Class 46. Liquid passes into a perforate pipe 4 and thence outward through a ceramic filter candle 1 and through a mixture of cation- and anionexchanging resins 9 which are prevented from escaping by a gauze cup 17 in an outlet 15. A drain valve 10 can be unscrewed to remove and replace the resins. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the resins are accommodated between the candle interior and a gauze sleeve surrounding the pipe 4, now the outlet pipe. Liquid passes into the casing 2 at 15, the parts 16 to 19 being omitted.
