Abstract

660,864. Gas filters. FRAM CORPORATION. May 16, 1949, No. 12985/49. Class 8 (ii). In a gas filter comprising a casing 10 Fig. 1, having an inlet 19, first and second filtering stages 24, 29 to remove successively coarse and fine dust particles, and an outlet 11, the first stage comprises curled casein fibres and the second stage is of paper. The casein is mixed with wool fibres and is fireproofed and rendered adhesive with crezyl phosphate. The paper is corrugated and the two filters are held in a removable cartridge 21. In a modification the paper is formed as a bellows 47 Fig. 2, and the fibres are in sleeve form; the two filters being held in a removable cartridge 42 held down by a spring 49. In a further modification the paper is radially pleated within the fibre sleeve.
