Abstract
426,298. Respirators. FRANCON, G., 15, Rue Pierre Termier, St. Etienne, Loire, France. June 26, 1934, No. 18896. Convention date, March 3. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 27, 1934.] [Class 81 (ii)] Respiratory apparatus comprises a container for absorbing and filtering elements directly supported by a mask and having an axial conduit for exhaled air, which conduit supports an exhaust valve. The container 1 is secured to the mask 6 and has air inlets 2. A cover 4 has a central projection 8 formed with air outlets 9 and housing the exhaust valve 13 consisting of two rubber discs attached to each other at spots along their edges and supported by a rubber ring 12 on the axial conduit 11 secured to the base 10. A container 14 has a base 15 secured to conduit 11 and formed with apertures 16 adapted to be closed by a loose rubber inlet valve 17. An absorbent such as charcoal is disposed between a linencovered perforated partition 20 and a perforated member 23 pressed by springs 24 disposed beneath the cover 25. A dust filter 27 of folded felt or paper is clamped at its ends between bases 10 and 15 and covers 4 and 25. Inhaled air passes through the filter 27, through apertures 26 into container 14, and by way of apertures 16 and nozzles 29 to the mask. In a modification, the container 14 is perforated at its periphery and is spaced from the conduit 11 by a perforated tube. Wire gauze covers the perforations.
