Abstract

746,162. Gas filters. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Sept. 23, 1954, No. 27584/54. Class 8(2). A gas filter comprises a pervious web 4 e.g. of paper continuously transferred from a spool 5 to a spool 6 by frictional engagement with the perforated cylindrical surface 2 of a rotary drum. In operation dust-laden air from a duct 10 traverses the web 4 to the drum interior and is discharged through an open end 12 having a leather collar 13 in sealing engagement with a fixed flange 14 surrounding an outlet in a partition wall 11. Prevention of passage of dust laden air through that part of the drum surface 2 not covered by the web 4 is effected by a free roller 15 or alternatively by a hood-like shield above said part and a strip of impervious material below it and inside the drum. The ends 8 of the spools 5, 6 slide in channels 9 so as to relieve the web 4 of tension.
