Class 8(2) In a gas filter comprising a porous web 4 drawn from a supply roll 5 round at least one rotatable intermediate roller 6 and round part of the apertured peripheral surface 2 of a power driven cylindrical inward-flow drum 1 to a take-up roller 8. the supply roller 5 bears against one of the intermediate rollers, e.g. roller 6 which is driven at the same peripheral velocity as the drum and is rotated thereby as the drum rotates. In operation dust-laden air from a duct 15 passes through that part of a paper web engaging the drum 1 and is discharged from the drum interior through an open end 17 having a collar 18 in sealing engagement with a fixed flange 19 surrounding an outlet in a partition wall 3; that part of the drum periphery not engaged by the web 4 being sealed against access of dust-laden air, e.g. by a segment 24, Fig. 4 (not shown). The intermediate roller in contact with the supply roller may be driven by an even number of further intermediate rollers of the same diameter the last of which bears against the cylindrical surface of the drum whereby the supply roller is driven in the same direction as the drum
